The Carnivore Diet: 5 Free Resources to Help Curious Beginners
If you're looking for resources to help you on your journey towards a more ancestral, meat-based diet, look no further. The resources in this post are free, packed with information and resources, and will make it easy to learn more about eating a carnivorous diet.
Whether you're already following the carnivore diet, or are just curious about it, having access to resources that help you to research the diet is essential.
Unfortunately, with the recent attempts to push people towards eating a plant-based diet, you're likely to encounter lots of misinformation about the nutritional quality, safety, and history of meat-based, nutrient dense diets.
So, to help curious people (like you) out, I've put together a list of five, free (and legitimate) resources that will help you to find out more information about the carnivore diet, so you will feel more confident about your decision to follow (or to continue following) it.
1.) Justmeat.co
Justmeat.co, created by Michael Goldstein, is a veritable treasure-trove of links to zero-carb diet (a.k.a carnivore) resources, from Facebook groups, to studies and pdf's.
It's definitely worth taking a peek and bookmarking the page for later—There are so many resources listed that it'll take you weeks, if not months, to get through them all!
2.) Michaelanthony
Michaelanthony (yes, it's all one word) runs a YouTube channel, where he discusses - among other things -how a carnivorous diet has helped him vastly improve his life.
I've enjoyed watching his videos for some time, and highly recommend taking a look if you'd like to hear some 'n=1', anecdotal stories about how a carnivorous diet has helped Michaelanthony fix his personal health issues, including depression.
3.) Paleo Medicina
Based in Hungary and run by Dr. Szófia Clemens, the Paleo Medicina clinic uses dietary intervention (via a "paleolithic ketogenic diet") to treat a wide range of diseases.
There are several interesting articles, including this one, which discuss successful dietary interventions involving patients who are (or were) suffering from life-changing diseases like brain cancer.
N.B. There are several 'articles', some of which are basically case studies, which can be read for free.
However, there is also an in-depth article that provides detailed information about the specific diet used by the clinic, which may be of interest to you.
It's priced at €30, with the €30 contribution going towards supporting the Paleo Medicina team's research.
I'm not affiliated with Paleo Medicina, and receive no kickbacks for mentioning their paid article, but wanted to highlight that it's available, in case you're interested.
4.) Steak and Butter Gal
Steak and Butter Gal, a.k.a Bella, is a classically trained musician, and has been documenting her journal towards healing her autoimmune diseases (eczema & psoriasis) and other health issues, through eating a diet based on animal foods.
Bella's videos, like Michaelanthony's, are a great way to find out how a meat-based diet has helped regular people overcome their health issues, and her content is definitely worth watching.
5.) Zero Carb Zen
Zero Carb Zen is run by ex-vegan Esmée La Fleur, and she explains how following a zero-carb diet has improved her overall health.
You'll also find useful information on her site about eating a meat-based diet, including:
- Instructions for making pemmican.
- A list of classic books to read.
- Interviews and testimonials from people who've benefitted from eating carnivorously.
- Advice on adapting to a zero carb diet.
Esmée links to several additional resources so, as with Justmeat.co, you'll have plenty of information about following a carnivorous diet at your fingertips.
Final Thoughts
Starting any new diet can be tricky, especially for beginners who don't feel like they've found their feet yet.
And, starting (and sticking to) the carnivore diet can be trickier still, especially when it seems so different, and when there are so many conflicting opinions out there.
Hopefully, these five5 resources will make enable you to researchke breseenabing le you to research eating an ancestral, meat-based diet, help you to make informed choices, and support you on your journey towards better health.
